Emily Harris (b. 1977, Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY) sculptor/interdisciplinary artist whose works explore body and its relation to space. She uses drawing, sculpture and performance collaborating on artworks that sensitize through materials from glass to breath. Exhibitions: US and internationally at 2B Gallery in Budapest, Hungary; Galeria Z in Bratislava, Slovakia, The Museum of Arts & Crafts, Itami-shi, Japan and Galeria Ajolote Arte Contemporaneo, Guadalajara, Mexico. Notable collaborative works: Roaming Urban Soundscapes with Paul Sadowski (Cooper Union, NYC), featuring hours of ambient field recordings precisely mixed to create a 3 hour multi-location, multi-track sound piece; Resonant Traces, with sound artist Jonathan Zorn, curated by Carol Nhan, a building-size sound and line installation, Union Street Studio, LLC, architecture and design collective in Brooklyn, NY; Contemplative Outerwear in IF YOU SAY SO, with vocalist Anais Maviel, curated by Women Between Arts, The Stone at the New School, Glass Theater, NYC.
Solo: When Our Breaths Run an installation of glass, video, audio and instrumental recordings at north willow in Montclair, NJ, 2017. The show was dedicated to friend and colleague Margaret Sheffield.
Emily is producer for the film TOUCH THE SKY - Robert Filliou and co-hosts a weekly series with Cultural Activists from around the world, from the Institute for Cultural Activism International which she co-founded in 2020.
